Design Award and Electrification: the Triumph of AS Labruna

The absolute protagonist of the stand (Hall 1 – Stand 263) was VOLTAB, the 100% electric portable power station developed by Reefilla together with AS Labruna’s E-Vision division, which received the Special Mention at the 2025 DAME Design Awards in the Electronic & Electrical Systems category.

This recognition—granted within the most authoritative design award in the marine industry at METSTRADE—captured the attention of visitors and international operators. VOLTAB is a fully electric portable generator, designed and manufactured in Italy, which combines high energy capacity, charging power, compactness and light weight, with versions equipped with Type 2 socket and compatibility with solar panels, making it an ideal solution for smart energy management both onboard and ashore.

Alongside VOLTAB, the AS Labruna stand showcased the new E-POWER 140 electric transmission, designed for inboard, sterndrive and waterjet applications, based on an FPT Industrial e-powertrain marinized and integrated by AS Labruna. The E-POWER 140 was conceived to offer:

  • modular architecture, adaptable to various hulls and onboard layouts

  • higher propulsion efficiency than traditional systems

  • reduced noise, vibrations and emissions during maneuvering and low-speed navigation

  • full compatibility with series and parallel hybrid systems, range extenders and next-generation battery packs

As a system integrator, AS Labruna follows a clear roadmap: electrifying propulsion while ensuring reliability, performance and the autonomy typical of diesel.

During METSTRADE 2025, AS Labruna also presented a selection of FPT Industrial and FNM internal combustion engines in eco-sustainable configurations, integrated into:

  • hybrid systems (such as Power 200 and HK 10), which combine high-efficiency diesel engines with zero-emission electric motors, enabling navigation in sensitive areas while drastically reducing consumption, noise emissions and environmental impact

  • range extender solutions (HEVOlution 80-37 RE 150), where the diesel engine operates at its maximum efficiency point to recharge energy storage systems and power the electric propulsion and onboard systems

These hybrid platforms combine diesel autonomy, power and speed with electric silence, zero local emissions and access to protected areas, aligning professional and workboat sectors with the new European environmental standards.
