Hydrogen and the Sea: AS Labruna’s vision at the center of the national debate

Among the most significant moments of SNIM 2025, the conference titled:
“Hydrogen: from media hype to key player in the national and European energy mix”
was held on Saturday, October 11.
A high-profile panel led the discussion on the role of hydrogen in the energy future of Italy and Europe, with contributions from Giorgio Graditi (Director General of ENEA), Davide Tabarelli (President of Nomisma Energia), Leonardo Mazza (Public Affairs at Edison), Domenico Laforgia (President of AQP), Andrea Bochicchio (CEO of Isotta Fraschini Motori), and Arturo De Risi (President of DITNE).
Representing the nautical and industrial sector, Massimo Labruna, CEO of AS Labruna, delivered a keynote titled:
“Hydrogen and the Sea: from experimentation to the revolution of marine mobility.”
In his speech, Labruna emphasized that the energy transition in the marine sector is no longer a theoretical goal, but a daily industrial challenge, tackled through the development and implementation of full electric motors, hybrid systems, and hydrogen fuel cells.
Hydrogen, he recalled, is not a fuel, but an energy carrier: it does not generate energy, it transports it.
And in this role, it can become the backbone of maritime decarbonization, offering new opportunities for both commercial and recreational boating.
The vision brought by AS Labruna is not based on future promises, but on concrete projects already underway within its E-Vision division, including:
-
The Futura II full electric gozzo, a symbol of zero-emission navigation
-
The PB4 and PB30 hybrid systems, scalable and modular solutions for professional vessels
-
Fuel cell applications currently in advanced testing phases
A path that combines technological experimentation, strategic vision, and engineering expertise, with the goal of leading the market toward a new energy paradigm.
“The future of boating will be low-emission, modular and intelligent.
Those who invest in knowledge today will lead the market of tomorrow.”
With this message, AS Labruna reaffirmed its commitment to charting a course for a more sustainable marine industry — built not on trends, but on realistic, scalable and industrially viable solutions.
